A grade of between 1-4 to describe the adventure's complexity

Easy - Adventures at this grade are suitable for anyone who is in good health and fit enough to enjoy the occasional walk. Walks are gently paced with plenty of time to stop and admire the surrounding scenery. However, all our adventures involve some exertion. You should expect a reasonable amount of ascent and descent each day. Walks will be around 4 to 5 hours, with distances of between 4-6 miles. Ascents will generally be on mountain paths and no more than 2000 ft (600 metres). Expect some rough ground.

Medium - Our medium graded adventures may include a mixture of mountain ascents and/or low level walks. Previous hillwalking experience is not a necessity however you should be reasonably fit and enjoy some form of regular exercise. Walking times each day are between 5-7 hours, with daily distances of between 6-8 miles. Expect mountain ascents in the range of 1500-3000 feet (450-900 metres). Terrain will vary between mountain paths and rough ground.

Medium/Hard - Before embarking on one of our medium/hard graded adventures it is important that you have a good level of fitness as you will be on challenging mountainous terrain for the duration of the holiday. Previous hillwalking experience is not essential. We will be walking most days between 7 and 9 hours, with daily ascents of between 2500-4500ft (800-1400 metres). Terrain will be varied, with rough paths including rugged, rocky terrain possibly with some scrambling required.

Hard - If you wish to undertake an adventure at this grade it would be beneficial, (but not essential) to have previous experience of hillwalking over hard and rugged mountainous terrain. Hill days of between 7-9 hours, or longer, with ascents each day of between 3000-5000 feet (900-1500 metres) should be expected. Terrain may vary between rough moorland, mountain paths and exposed rocky ridges with some scrambling. This grade is reserved for our most demanding adventures.
