Within the following paragraphs the terms 'you' and 'your' refers to the customer making the booking. The terms 'we', 'us' and 'our' refer to Mountain and Glen and its representatives.
A 20% deposit is payable at time of booking to secure your adventure. Outstanding monies are payable six weeks prior to commencement. Full payment is required if you are booking within six weeks of commencement.
We accept:
All major credit and debit cards
Cheques drawn on a UK bank account.
Sterling bank drafts
We do not surcharge customers paying by credit/debit card.
Cheques should be made payable to "J Coughlan".
If you wish to cancel your adventure for any reason you must notify us immediately in writing. We reserve the right to retain monies paid in accordance with the following scale:

If we are able to resell your cancelled adventure we will refund your monies in full, less a £20 administration charge. This applies only to overnight adventure bookings.
Requests for rescheduling of any adventure will incur a £20 administration charge. If we are unable to accommodate such requests and your adventure is cancelled charges will apply.
We reserve the right to cancel any adventure. In such circumstances, we will offer a transfer to an alternative adventure or refund all monies paid. If the alternative is cheaper than the adventure booked, the difference between the two will be refunded. Any travel arrangements which you have made independently will not be refunded, our liability is restricted to payments made to us.
We reserve the right to cancel any adventure on which the balance is outstanding six weeks prior to commencement and retain any deposit paid.
Our self-guided adventures involve third parties. Mountain and Glen will not be held responsible for errors, omissions or the failure of these third parties in relation to bookings made through Mountain and Glen. In particular, we cannot be held responsible for the standard of accommodation, even though these facilities are thoroughly scrutinised by us and our agents.
We strongly recommend that you take out adequate travel insurance as this is not included in the cost of your adventure. In addition, you should ensure that any such insurance covers you for the activities booked with us.
The adventures we offer take place in a mountainous environment. Such activities carry with them an inherent risk. A proportion of this risk must be accepted by you. All our staff are trained for the activities which they lead and have specific first aid training. In the interests of safety you are expected to abide by the decisions and judgements of our leaders.
We reserve the right to select safe routes within the safe limits of the prevailing weather conditions. In addition, we reserve the right to alter activities if you, or a member of your party becomes injured, unwell or is unable to complete the route due to lack of fitness. We will provide detailed advice, on request, on the most suitable clothing and equipment for your adventure. We reserve the right to refuse your participation in any activity for which you have unsuitable equipment, if we believe that it may compromise the safety of you or the group. If you are asked to make alternative arrangements any costs incurred will be borne by you.
Our grading system indicates the level of fitness required for each activity. If your fitness is not commensurate with the requirement for your adventure, we reserve the right to end the activity early and you will be required to make alternative arrangements at your own expense.
You must inform us of any medical condition, injury or illness which you are suffering from, of any medication you are taking, or of any allergy which you have. For their own safety and that of those around them, persons apparently under the influence of alcohol or drugs will not be allowed to participate in activities. Additionally, if your behaviour becomes unacceptable at any point, you will be asked to make alternative arrangements at your own expense.
At the end of your adventure you will be asked to complete a questionnaire, in order for us to monitor the standard of service we provide. In completing the document you agree to us publishing any compliments (in anonymised form) on our website.
In the unlikely event of you having a complaint, you should raise the matter with our representative in the first instance. He/she will attempt to resolve the matter immediately. If they are unable to do this to your satisfaction they will report the matter to our office as soon as possible. You should write to our director on your return home. Matters not raised according to this process may lead to your complaint being rejected. Any legal matters will be dealt with under Scottish Law and Custom.
We will not be liable for any loss, damage or expense resulting from force majeure or any unforeseen circumstance outwith our control. We will only be liable for loss or damage caused by the proven negligence or default of us and/or our representatives in performing their obligations under this agreement.
We believe all details provided verbally, in printed material or on our website to be correct at time of booking. All arrangements made on behalf of you are made in good faith. We reserve the right to alter the content, dates, prices and itineraries of our adventures before accepting your booking. In such instances such changes will be binding on both parties.
Your booking is accepted on the basis of the above terms and conditions.
