Dear Jim

My sincere thanks to you and all your team for making our event a success. Your personal guidance , overview and decision making was fantastic. NicK as your man on the ground was brilliant. The drivers were a key part of the team and really helped. The Mountain Leaders were very professional and experienced.

Every one of your team exuded warmth, support, dedication , expertise , preparation and planning skills .

You might think that was enough but they all were really pleasant people and that made a huge difference and should not be taken for granted.

“Jim and the team at Mountain and Glen made our mad ideas a reality. They are just incredibly ‘can-do’. Nothing was impossible….non-stop event across the entire South Downs Way in winter – no problem; Three Peaks and Welsh 3000 back-to-back – Sure. They designed safe but fun events, catering for all levels of fitness and insanity. Not a single detail was forgotten – expert advice and words of encouragement on tap; much needed sports massages; and not forgetting ‘Mrs Jim’s’ home-made cooking at the pitstops. All in all, a great experience and a great guy – we wouldn’t do another challenge without him!”

8 friends deciding to do Three Peaks in three days to help celebrate a 50th. Nervous? worried? fit enough? We’d climbed one mountain but never 3. To use Jim & his company was in no doubt the best decision ever made and he ensured it would be a safe, unforgettable experience. His calm confident manner, the way he wanted to get to know all of us and then knew how to inspire each of us. We loved his humour, his stories and his t-shirts! Listening to him finding us an elusive bottle of champagne half way down Snowdon – what a star! Nothing was impossible. We just used our legs and for once could leave all the organisation & decisions to him…..bliss! I’ve read lots of testimonials from groups doing the 24hr challenge but if you’re like us and did it for the pride and camaraderie and possibly a once in a lifetime experience – then use Jim…….he deserves every accolade he gets.  Bev Whitfield (

Bev Whitfield (3 Peaks in 3 Days)

Our company enlisted the help of Mountain and Glen to help lead us through our 24 hour Three peaks Challenge. Jim from the outset was amazing to deal with, his friendly manner made us feel totally confident we would be in safe hands. The information such as training programmes and kit advice along with the support provided was invaluable and allowed us to be as prepared as we could be for the challenge ahead.

The guides on the day were amazing, all very knowledgeable and clearly had a real passion for the great outdoors and helping people share the experience of the mountains. They were supportive from start to finish and their positivity and belief in the team got us all up and down the mountain without any problems – not an easy task when there’s 13 people with varying levels of fitness!

I would definitely recommend Mountain and Glen to anyone looking to do a similar challenge, they made the whole experience easy to organise and stress free which is exactly what you need. Thanks very much Jim and the team – we will be back!

What can I say about Jim, Nick and his team of Mountain Leaders. Truly remarkable. Don’t believe we could have accomplished the hardest challenge I’ve ever tried without their help, support and ongoing motivation. Had such a great time. One of the most professional and funniest companies I’ve had the pleasure to work with.”

Adrian Taylor (National Three Peaks Challenge)

I cannot speak highly enough of Mountain and Glen. From the moment we decided to attempt the Three Peaks Challenge, they have been on hand to offer support and guidance. Throughout the Challenge, their professionalism, experience and ability to motivate shone through. A special mention must be given to our guides Jim, Davie and Mark who were exceptionally knowledgeable. I cannot recommend this challenge enough.

Helen Dawson (National Three Peaks Challenge)

Thank you for all the effort you put into our challenge – I felt that the professionalism and patience of you and your team was outstanding. It must be difficult to adjust as the challenge progresses to suit different teams, but I felt you could not have done a better job for us.

John Kent (National Three Peaks Challenge)

A big thank you to both you and your team of mountain guides for your superb support for the team from the Building Adhesives and ARDEX companies. Without the encouragement, support and professionalism of your excellent team I do not think we would have got through the challenge in the target time. We finished in 23 hours and 30 minutes in absolutely brutal weather conditions on two of the mountains. To beat the target time reflects the teamwork generated by your guides and though conditions were grim, you all made it fun and as enjoyable as possible, in very difficult circumstances. Please pass on my thanks and those of our team to a great bunch of people who made the challenge a positive experience for everyone!

Peter Bell (National Three Peaks Challenge)

Having undertaken a number of events and challenges over the years, Jim and his team delivered a great experience on and off the mountains. The set up of the check points was much better than previously experienced. I would use them again.

Rob Edmondson (Veolia Yorkshire Three Peaks)

I found Mountain and Glen to be a fantastic company to go walking with. The organisation was spot-on and the facilities provided at each rest point was far above my expectations. Both guides were excellent. Throughout the walk you never felt pressured to go beyond your capabilities but they also let us carry on when we didn’t want to hang about too long.

I would definitely recommend Mountain and Glen to anyone who is looking for a guide and I would definitely go walking with them again.
